Air Canada Adds New Products and Services to In-Flight Experience

Air Canada has added an array of new products and services, including expanded in-flight food and beverages and upgrades to the Air Canada App.

Air Canada APP

The latest upgrades to the Air Canada App, available for free through the Apple App Store or Google Play, allow for quick and easy access to important travel information throughout the journey including:

• Mobile boarding passes that are easier to use at security and during boarding with seamless updates
• Passport details of Aeroplan members linked to their profile, streamlining international check-in
• Easier airport navigation with integrated maps of key Air Canada and Star Alliance airports
• Ability for Air Canada Signature Class and Premium Economy customers to pre-order in-flight meals on select international flights departing Canada.

Airport Lounges

The airline also recently added three new premium airport lounges, bringing Air Canada’s network of lounges to 29 worldwide. This includes:

•  The new Maple Leaf Lounge at San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
•  The new Aspire | Air Canada Café at the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) in Toronto’s convenient downtown terminal
• Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) Terminal A  - co-located within the new United Club. 

Food and Beverage

Air Canada continues to improve their overall onboard experience by adding more food and beverage options across a variety of tastes and preferences including products not available today on any Canadian airline.

Items added include:

• Blue Moon Belgian White and Hop Valley IPA craft beers
• Vizzy Strawberry Orange Mimosa Hard Seltzer
• Rosé from Provence, France
• Aperol Spritz (Air Canada Signature Class on international flights). 
• Earth's Own oat milk, a Canadian non-dairy milk alternative will now be offered, a first for a Canadian airline.

Porter Airlines Expands Network

Porter Airlines is set to expand its network by adding Winnipeg to its list of destinations. The airline will operate two daily round trip flights between Toronto (YYZ) and Winnipeg (YWG) starting from 07SEPT23.

The new route will be serviced by the Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, which can accommodate up to 132 passengers. The service also connects Winnipeg passengers to Porter’s Eastern Canada network out of Toronto-Pearson, including Ottawa, Montreal and Halifax.

Introductory round trip fares start at $177.

The initial flight schedule is as follows:

Passengers travelling with Porter Airlines will receive complimentary beer and wine, a selection of snacks, free WiFi, and an absence of middle seats. The PorterReserve fare, which is all-inclusive, offers healthy meals, along with additional features like the ability to change flights without fees, dedicated check-in, extra legroom, and two checked bags.

Improved Screening Experience at Canadian Airports

The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA), in collaboration with Transport Canada, launched their Verified Traveller program on June 21, 2023.

If you are a NEXUS member, you will benefit from an improved screening experience at select airports across Canada. This program will replace CATSA’s existing benefits offered to trusted travellers.

Program benefits

Improved screening experiences are available to you depending on location and checkpoint, including:

·       Leaving permitted liquids, aerosols and gels in your carry-on

·       Leaving laptops and electronics in your carry-on

·       Keeping shoes, belts, light jackets and headwear on

·       Keeping small items in your pockets

·       Access to dedicated screening lines, or front of the line service
